Jeff Ironside Egg Industry Leadership Award

Nominations for the Jeff Ironside Egg Industry Leadership Award will open soon for any egg farmer, egg supply chain worker, veterinary or extension specialist or educator to be recognised for their contribution and leadership to Australian Egg Industry. 

The award recognises the efforts of current and developing leaders in the egg industry and honours the work of Jeff Ironside. Jeff has been a wonderful leader of the Australian and international egg industry, a Townsville egg farmer who held positions of Chairman of Sunny Queen, President of the Australian Egg Industry Association and Chair of Australian Egg Corporation across three decades. 

This is your chance to nominate an individual who deserves recognition for the work they (or you) are doing. The winner will be sponsored to participate in the 2022 Marcus Oldham Rural Leadership Program in Victoria. 

The Marcus Oldham Rural Leadership Program is an intensive five-day workshop held in September 2022, that allows participants to develop the skills and knowledge to undertake a leadership role in their workplace, the egg industry and their community. 

The program will support participants in gaining: 

  • an appreciation of the demands of leadership within the current economic environment 
  • awareness of the primary leadership styles 
  • an understanding of your own strengths and development needs, and how these interact 
  • communication strategies 
  • decision-making skills 
  • networking opportunities with agri-related industry and community leaders who face a range of similar leadership challenges in their work, family and community lives 

The Award is open to leaders and emerging leaders from across the Australian Egg Industry. Applicants will be reviewed based on their: 

  • potential to contribute as a leader in their community and the egg industry 
  • self-confidence and personal effectiveness 
  • demonstrated desire to develop their leadership skills, self-confidence and personal effectiveness 
  • capacity to contribute to our diverse, National egg industry 

There are no maximum age or experience criteria, however, it is preferable participants should be at least 21 years of age.
